Aircraft part believed to be from 9/11 attack found in New York
New York police officials confirm that a piece of landing gear found this week is believed to be from one of the hijacked planes involved in the Sept.11 attacks at the World Trade Center.

The debris was not discovered until recently because it was jammed for over a decade in an 18-inch-wide sliver of open space between two buildings. Police say they know it is from one of the American Airlines airliners because it bears a Boeing identification number. Besides the single piece of twisted metal, there is also a piece of rope and a broken part of a broken pulley police say was likely torn from the roof from one of the buildings.
The odds of the wrecked metal resting there for nearly 12 years ?is amazing,? New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne told reporters Friday. ?It had to have fallen just the right way to make it into that space.?
Building surveyors discovered the debris Wednesday. They were inspecting the site of a planned Islamic community center at 51 Park Place, at the request of the building owner. The site is located three blocks from ground zero in Manhattan. The debris was located between that building and a luxury loft rental building located at 50 Murray St.
In a statement, Sharif El-Gamal, president of Soho Properties, which owns the 51 Park Place building, said his company is cooperating with city and police officials to ensure the wreckage ?is removed with care as quickly and effectively as possible.?
New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is going to complete a medical exam of the area Monday to evaluate possible toxicity of the site; depending on the outcome of that review, investigators will search for possible human remains. When the aircraft wreckage is eventually removed, it will be housed and secured by the city property clerk.
The discovery follows a similar investigation over the past month at a landfill on nearby Staten Island where forensic scientists from the city medical examiner office have found potential human remains connected to the attack at the World Trade Center. To date, 41 percent of victims of the Sept. 11 attack have not been formally identified.

What is the hardest part of doing business in China? | The Secrets of ...
Conducting business in on a different continent can be a difficult proposition in the best of circumstances and there are some significant challenges that you have to overcome to have success doing business in China. China offers an enormous market to use either for manufacturing or to expand and sell your products and services, but there are a couple of things that you need to keep in mind to have the best results. Most western business people are rushing into the deals without doing sufficient due diligence which is causing undue strife and wasting too many resources. Understanding that the deal isn?t complete until the work is done and that negotiations continue past the signing of the agreement will keep your business? expectations realistic.
Western business people aren?t doing a sufficient amount of due diligence and are rushing into deals with poorly considered or structured deals. Unlike the legal systems of the US or Europe, the Chinese courts are even more expensive, time-consuming and usually fruitless. Therefore, it makes the negotiation and deal structuring process even more important as the aggressive legal strategy that may work in the US won?t help in China. The hardest part of doing business in China is negotiating and securing a successful deal with a Chinese company.
There are a few factors that lead business people to accept less flattering or potentially harmful deal structures in China:
Difficulty of Securing Negotiations ? Scarcity Mindset
It can be very difficult to get any Chinese company to the negotiation table and therefore it is tempting to concede on major terms just to keep them there. With a mindset that hinges on not having any other options it is easy to make mistakes that you normally wouldn?t regarding terms. Add to the scarcity mindset the jet-lag, culture gap, and language issues, and you can have some lapses in judgement.
Balancing Building Guaxi and Negotiating
China is run by guanxi or the social networks of favors and respect, but if you are there for negotiation you have to balance your need to build guanxi with successful bargaining. Building a long-term relationship is great but you need to make sure that the terms are favorable or at the very least equitable.
Trust vs. Verification
Not structuring the deal properly can lead to disappointment as the up-front payments or IP disappears with the company that you have been negotiating with. It?s very dangerous in any business atmosphere to put yourself on the hook and shift all of the power to your partner?s court. Make sure that the deal is structured so that this doesn?t have to become an issue.
No matter how much time that you spend setting up the deal and signing the contract, you should be ready for the true negotiations and talks to begin after you thought that the deal was sealed.

Another NFL Draft is in the books, 254 new players with a chance to create a professional future, and 32 teams delighted for the moment with the work they?ve done.
And while there were an abundance of storylines, one thing that stood out about the 2013 NFL Draft was the remarkable restraint many teams showed.
There wasn?t an Andrew Luck or a Cam Newton ? or perhaps even a Ryan Mallett ??in this draft.
But even with the extreme financial penalty for missing on a first-round passer gone, teams didn?t line up to take the chance on a potential franchise quarterback as they have in the past.?Only three quarterbacks were chosen in the first three rounds, the fewest since 2000 (the fabled Chad Pennington-Giovanni Carmazzi-Chris Redman draft).
The Bills fooled us all by taking E.J. Manuel in the first round, and even the Jets withstood the temptation to win the back pages by taking Geno Smith in the second. When Mike Glennon was the only third-rounder, it left names such as Matt Barkley and Ryan Nassib for the fourth, where the Eagles and Giants bought low.
Some of the best quarterback business was done by teams that didn?t take one.
The Jaguars might be more needy at the position than any team in the league, with Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne competing. But as bad as that might be, there?s no guarantee any of this year?s candidates are better. So since new general manager David Caldwell didn?t see value, he withstood temptation and restocked a bad team with many other parts they needed ? most of them with speed.
But it wasn?t just at the quarterback position where the smart teams held fast.
After an unprecedented run on left tackles (three of the top four picks), teams with needs there started drafting guards and right tackles and defensive tackles instead of reaching. It would have been easy for the Chargers to move up for one of the top blind-side protectors, but by letting the board come to them, they found a solid starting right tackle in D.J. Fluker. Likewise, Arizona added a guard in Jonathan Cooper who could turn out to be the best value in the draft, and the Titans made Chris Johnson a better running back by drafting guard Chance Warmack (and center Brian Schwenke) to go with big-ticket free agent Andy Levitre.
And not to beat up on Manti Te?o any more than has already happened, the teams that needed him and didn?t draft him deserved notice as well.
The Vikings had a pair of late firsts, and used them on value picks Sharrif Floyd and Xavier Rhodes, both of whom figured to go sooner. Then they made a move for a third first-rounder, not for Te?o, but to take a receiver in Cordarrelle Patterson who has some Randy Moss-ish tendencies. The Bears also skipped an obvious need for a middle linebacker, and took a versatile but raw offensive lineman with good genes (Kyle Long).
The two Super Bowl teams (and two that should push them) exemplified the patience of the weekend as well.
The 49ers stockpiled picks, and used one on running back Marcus Lattimore, who might not play a down for them this year. The Ravens might have had interest in Te?o as well, but took their safety first (Matt Elam) before filling in at linebacker later (Arthur Brown).
The Packers added two running backs in Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin who could make a good team better, and the Seahawks used the benefit of a roster with few holes to take some chances on players with question marks, from running back Christine Michael to defensive tackle Jesse Williams.
Not every team has such luxuries. But the best things might come to the ones that were able and willing to wait this weekend.

Will newly found 9/11 debris be tested for human remains?
>>> late today in lower manhattan we learned of a stunning discovery. what investigators believe to be pieces of one of the commercial jets that brought down the world trade center found wedged between two buildings near ground zero 11 years after the terrorist attack. this discovery is being treated as a crime scene by the nypd tonight. nbc's stephanie gosk is there.
>> reporter: good evening, brian. it's hard to imagine after all this time someone could essentially stumble across a piece of wreckage. especially this big. we are about a quarter or mile from ground zero . that piece was found wedged between these buildings behind me. there were construction workers doing solo inspections. they called police who turned it into a crime scene . they said they will move the piece in a couple of days but they might have to do some demolition. it's wedged in so deeply. they may test for human remains . what people don't realize is scores of victims from 9/11 have never been positively identified. this may be an opportunity to bring closure for families that are waiting. finally, if this building looks familiar, it's because it's the site of a controversy over whether or not to build an islamic cultural center here so close to ground zero . brian?
