Romney???s Planned Meeting with Donald Trump Makes Him Look Extreme (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is expected to meet with Donald Trump on Sept. 26 at the Trump Towers, as reported by National Journal. Other candidates hoping for the Republican nomination, including Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, have already had face-to-face contact with the egotistical and attention-craving head honcho of "The Apprentice."

One of the perceived pros of Romney is that he isn't considered as extreme as many of the other Republicans in the race for the White House. A recent Rasmussen poll even reflected this, to where 26 percent of the likely voters saw the former Massachusetts governor as being extreme in views, considerably less than President Barack Obama, where 44 percent view the Commander-in-Chief as having extreme views.

So then why would Romney openly meet with someone who is so starved for attention that he'd launch into a "Quixotic" obsession over where the nation's current president was born? Donald Trump created a stir by hounding President Barack Obama over his birth certificate earlier this year, doing his best to get any national media coverage in pursuing that issue.

The real estate baron and his "birther" minions all ended up with one large egg on their doubting faces after the president made public the official document, stopping Trump's utterly mean-spirited ploy in its tracks.

But then again, this isn't the first time Romney has sided with his radical opponents, showing just how extreme he intends to be, or at the very least afraid to buck peer pressure. He, along with the other Republicans during a debate last month, raised their hands in unison to where they would reject any deal that included a ten-to-one ratio of budget cutting to tax hikes, according to the Washington Monthly.

Just like then candidate Barack Obama was pegged for his past associations with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers in 2008, Mitt Romney isn't doing himself any favors by meeting publicly with Trump, for he's giving validation to not only a "birther," but to a cruel human being whose penchant for bragging and pettiness knows no bounds.
