I am considering a purchase on a 2001 31ft CC with twin 300's. The boat will do 75+ mph, is this considered a "performance boat built for speed"? What are others paying for a fast CC and what company? The boat would be used in Florida, Tampa area. Got one quote from Progressive for $170 a month, is this about right? Sent in another quote to Boat US but they said they will respond in one business day. Geico said they would not insure it.
Thank for any info.

Did you try Boat/US?

They seem to be the most reasonable (least expensive that I have found to date).

I'm going to inquire with nboat myself.

The boat is advertised to do 85+ but every insurance site I went on, if you entered anything over 75 in the mph question it would redirect you and give the "I'm sorry" message, we don't insure anything that goes over 75 mph. How do the go fast jet ski's get insured?
I sent out a couple more requests for quotes so we will see what they come back with. $800 a year would be fine, $1800 a year is a little to much (Progressive)

Move to this coast - $1800 a year will look like a bargain.

Also recently got a good quote from Boat US. 3 years ago they wanted $2000+ for my 23 CC, this year it was more in line with your $800.

What's the boat?

In realty I want enough insurance to satisfy a lien holder and to replace or repay the value of the boat if it sinks or is stollen. Value is around $45k

What kind of boat is it? I pay $129 a month with progressive and have an agreed upon value for the boat, trailer, and gear. I also have more than basic liability. As others have mentioned, there are not many twin engine cc's that do 75+. Just another FYI, I've raced, built, and modified jetski's / waverunners for years. VERY few will do a true 75+ ....

I copied and pasted my coverage...

I want to know what 31' CC with 600hp runs 75mph?

I'm just curious. As to the insurance company, never admit that the boat will run over 45.

Do you think liability insurance is a good idea? You could be sued for a million dollars or more if you injure or kill someone with the boat or damage another boat, dock, etc.

I have liability insurance as well as a stated value policy.

I Don't want to get into what boat it is for right now. Won't some of the new jet ski's do over 65 mph off the show room floor? A couple of you said to not disclose to the insurance company that the boat will run at high speed. If you had a claim that involved the boat running, wouldn't the insurance company deny the claim because you provided false information about the performance of the boat which kinda defeats the purpose of having insurance?

Strap twin 300's on a 31 Fountain and you should see a top end in the low 70's.

I use Allstate for all of my insurance needs (home, auto, umbrella, boat) and my boat insurance premium is $495/year, agreed upon value (including motors, gear, trailer and hull) is $50,000. I keep the boat in a secure dry rack marina in SAV.

Yes, I was talking about a Cobra Predator. I am trying to find out if getting insurance on one at a reasonable price is even feasible.

The price of insurance quotes is meaningless unless they are all for the same coverage. You haven't stated what coverage you're looking for.
