earnest - Best Investments for 2011 | Binary | Options Trading ...

The best investments for 2011 so far have been made by those sleuths who have been shorting fraudulent Chinese holding company stocks. If shorting isn?t your thing tho, commodities have been pretty good ? in spite of the recent down turn.

What investors want to know is what is going to be big over the rest of the year. Odds are the best investments for 2011 will continue to be overseas. The other area shorts might be looking at is commercial real estate and CRE bonds ? and of course more fraudulent Chinese holding companies.

Bear in mind of course that these musings are my own only and do not stand as any sort of trade recommendation or guidance. These are my own thoughts based on what I?ve observed and read through the first 5 months of 2011.

What?s on Tap for the Second Half Investments 2011

One good idea I had heard the other day was the desire of a prominent Asian economy to de-peg from the US dollar. The US has been exporting inflation to the rest of the world since the Lehman collapse in 2008 and the burr under the saddle appears to finally be too much to bear for Hong Kong. We?ll have to see if anything comes of that however as markets are always in motion and it?s not like the Hong Kong economy can be broken on the back of current US dollar inflation the way the rest of Southeast Asia was back in the late 90s by the Ruble collapse.

Commercial Real Estate Death Spiral

Commercial real estate continues to get pounded with store closings and mall vacancies. A lot of people have been expecting the CRE market to fall apart sooner rather than later but it oddly enough has (up until now) had an extended lifeline due to the destruction of the housing market. So many people had stopped paying on mortgages (and were not paying rent elsewhere) that they had a considerable amount of disposable income to spend on (guess what?) ? consumer goods at malls and shopping centers. Now that that source of revenue has begun to dry up mall businesses have begun packing up at a quickening pace.

Obviously this does not bode well for debt laden US commercial real estate ventures and their debt and equity holders. Slow-downs in commercial real estate means fewer jobs in retail, commercial construction, and finance. This can only add to the pain already felt in real-estate, manufacturing, and residential construction.

All Eyes on Obama for Jobs Solutions

The late Congress of the Bush administration tried hand outs to the big banks and automakers in order to preserve jobs in the economy however more people receive some form of government assistance today than any other time in recent history. It would seem the efforts to save the banking industry may have worked in the near term but the economy is now crushed by un-funded and unfundable liabilities, and not enough working tax-payers to grow our way out of debt. If Obama is to have any chance at re-election in 2011 he will need to find ways to get people earning a living and paying taxes quickly.

Conclusion:
It appears to me that the best investments for 2011 yields-wise remain outside the US (even given the inevitable volatility of foreign currency markets), and heaven forbid you have to invest inside the US any bets would almost certainly have to be on the down-turn side.
